I worked with Phil the summer of 73 he was a great worker and a great friend. I remember when he bought a BSA 650 chopper, his mom threw a fit. Years later I heard he wrecked on a motorcycle and died. REST IN PEACE

Phil and I went steady for awhile late our Sophomore yr.
We lived about a block apart and walked to school a lot.
On Rooster Day we ran into each other and he asked me to
go steady. I will never forget that pewter ring I wore of
his..It was soooo big on me! He was so cute, sweet and
shy then. To this day every time I hear an old Carole
King song from her Tapestry album, I can't help but to
think of Phil. I will always remember his mom, she seemed
to really like me, and always wanted to call me by my
"given" name as she called it..(birthname)I will never
forget him.

It seems like when a group always hangs out together, certain people take on roles. Phil hung out with Tom Towry, Gary Powers, Ralph Barger and me. Phil was the free spirit; the minute an idea popped into his head he was already in action. I envied him because he had a face and style the girls liked. When the group of us was together, I'd sometimes get irritated because he'd kinda pick on me. I assumed for a while that he disliked me, then I ran into him at a convenience store on Main--none of the other guys around--and he was sincerely friendly. It dawned on me later he wasn't trying to pick on me; he was trying to get me to stop being so quiet and and join in with our conversations. I still remember when Tom called to tell me Phil had been killed while riding his motorcycle. All I could do was send a nice card to his wife and family. RIP and always remembered.

As I finish up my years of life, I always remember my BEST friend form our 1st day of Jr. High @ Central through our High School years - Phil Ragan. We ran hard at everything from bikes to fishing to sleep overs to skating (all over central Okla) and even motorcycles before I had to grow up. I ended up with our gang which included Garry Powers, Keith Purtell and Ralph Barger as ALL best friends but Phil and I were the originals.

I see Ralph's sister Darla from time to time and she is still in contact Phil's sister Darla.

My lifes memories are tied into these guys. Faith in God that we all see each other again.
